Lemur users Thievery Corporation announce new shows!

December 15, 2009

Lemurized musicians, Thievery Corporation, borrow from the classically sensual and blunted sounds of their favorite Brazilian bossa nova, Jamaican dub reggae, vintage film soundtracks, and psychedelic rock to forge into new sonic territory.

The group is a major presence in the DC scene legendary for fierce independence, musically and politically, from genre-defying pioneers as Chuck Brown and Fugazi to grassroots organizations such as Positive Force and the Future of Music Coalition.

They will be returning to their hometown of Washington D.C. to play 4 new shows at club 9:30, and the response has been incredible. Of the shows, only one still has tickets available: Wednesday, January 20, and tix are going fast! To inquire about tickets, go to club 9:30’s website. Hot Chip uses the Lemur!

December 9, 2009

Hot Chip have emerged from their bedrooms studios onto the UK music scene to become one of the most interesting electropop band in Britain over the last four years, a status that has gradually developed from the band’s formation in 2000.

The band is also well-known for their live shows, as they often reinvent their songs on stage and create a completely different sound. The Lemur has found a place of choice in their set up, effortlessly programmed and skillfully played by member Felix Martin:

“So far we have only used the Lemur in a live environment”, Felix explains, “where it fulfills a rather functional and plain role as a master controller for clips, scenes and FX in Ableton Live. I also use the Lemur to control the Dave Smith Polyevolver and an Elektron Machinedrum that I use, with Midi Thru signals going through Ableton. I have built my own patches for controlling those instruments. Even though they both have their own perfectly decent user interfaces, I like the idea of being able to control everything from one screen. I suppose I have an ideal of one day simply standing with the Lemur as my only performance tool, with the things that it controls sitting quietly in the background.”

Richard Devine Is Living the Dream

November 20, 2009

FORGING NEW TIMBRAL TERRITORY, ONE WAVEFORM AT A TIME

(This story about Richard Devine, a Lemur user, is excerpted from Electronic Musician magazine)

Composer, performer and sound designer Richard Devine leads a charmed life. Armed with an impressive arsenal of tools and talent, Devine has evolved from the darling of the experimental electronic dance-music crowd to a major force in sound design for synth builders, computer makers and bastions of international commerce. Along the way, his advertising clients — such as Audi, BMW, Ford, Lexus, Estée Lauder, Coca-Cola, McDonald’s and Touchstone Pictures — have picked up numerous awards for the commercials he has contributed to.

Devine’s career has been like a dream come true, almost from the moment he took his music public. You’ll hear his sonic imprint in everything from television network logos to the clicks and buzzes of cell phones…

New state-of-the-art multi-touch panel for the revolutionary Lemur and Dexter!

July 30, 2009

New state-of-the-art multi-touch panel for the revolutionary Lemur and Dexter!

JazzMutant’s groundbreaking products Lemur and Dexter have been in short supply over the past couple months, due to a combination of unprecedented success and a complex touch panel bubbling issue which limited our output capability.

The company has decided not to compromise on quality. Despite assembly improvement and quality control enhancements, the last batch of touch panels have failed to meet our standards. As a result, we decided not to resume the production of the Lemur at the moment. In order to avoid this issue in the future, we are now completely redesigning the touch panel component of the Lemur.

The upside of all this is that the next batch of Lemur will feature the latest generation of our multi-touch technology: better optical performances, higher precision, greater accuracy and responsiveness. It will be clearer and have brighter colors. We plan on launching the new Lemur in early October, and of course we will keep you updated as we get closer to launch date. We once again thank you for your patience, and look forward to sharing the excitement early October!
