Multi-touch Technology

JazzMutant pioneered resistive multi-touch technology 15 years ahead of its time. A resistive touchscreen panel is composed of several layers, the most important of which are two thin metallic electrically conductive and resistive layers separated by a narrow space.

When an object touches the panel surface, the layers make contact at a precise point; the panels act as two voltage dividers with connected outputs. This causes a change in the electrical current which is registered as a touch event and sent to the controller for processing.

Being able to process an unlimited number of simultaneous touch events is what makes JazzMutant’s technology unique. The number of tasks a user can perform are only limited by many fingers he or she has.
