Matthew Herbert With The Lemur

June 17, 2009

Matthew Herbert With The Lemur

Matthew Herbert is one of the most versatile, experimental and prolific artists in the electronic music scene. He is a classically trained pianist, high profile remixer (REM, Björk, and John Cale among others) and records his own material under the several aliases besides Matthew Herbert including Doctor Rockit, Wishmountain and Radio Boy. His output can swing between catchy pop and experimental electronica and he has been variously described as a ‘one-man Radiohead’ or a ‘Brian Eno for the 21st Century!

Lemur And Dexter Quality Update-Important

May 13, 2009

Lemur And Dexter Quality Update-Important

JazzMutant’s flagship products Lemur and Dexter have enjoyed an impressive record in innovation, quality and support since their launch. 2009 marks a new phase for JazzMutant with unprecedented success.

As it sometimes occurs in fast growth situations, the company is currently actively investigating a potential quality issue resulting in excessive bubbling effects on the touch panel. Bubbles are a common occurrence with touch panels, and tend to come and go randomly, but cannot have an adverse effect on product usability.

JazzMutant is working around the clock to identify and solve this issue as quickly as possible.

Meanwhile, we have put shipments on hold. We expect to finalize this process within days and be able to offer a clear process to handle affected products.

We thank you for your patience, and we will make sure you are taken care of, and remain confident in our brand and pioneering solutions.

1. Replacement or Repair?
Will be determined soon based on issue assessment results.

2. Lead-time to resolve?
We will have a process finalized by May 22.

3. How will retailers find out?
They will be called with updates.

4. How will consumers find out?
If they purchased directly from JazzMutant, JazzMutant will either call or email them.
If they purchased from a retailer, the retailer will handle the communication.

5. Can orders still be placed?
Yes, they will be processed as soon as the problem is solved.

6. Can products be returned for reimbursement?
No. JazzMutant first needs to complete its investigation and will then release the process and options.

JazzMutant @ Remix Hotel Miami 2009

March 6, 2009

JazzMutant are very proud to announce their involvement in this year’s Winter Music Conference in Miami. Lemurized artists will be presenting masterclasses and performing at Remix Hotel Miami and the huge Beatport pool party! Get your shades and come party with us by the pool!

Raw Hedroom Lemur Masterclass: Friday, March 27, 3 p.m. (Oval Ballroom)

Raw Hedroom Lemur Performance: Saturday, March 28, 2 p.m. (Beatport Stage)

Gareth Williams

Gareth Williams, otherwise known as Raw Hedroom, has been making waves of late. His recent work has been climbing Beatport’s techno charts and he is one of highly influential German techno label, Trapez’s most recent signings. His own brand of electronic music is technical and often melodic, yet puts the real emphasis on pushing an infectious groove.

After a classical upbringing, thanks to his music-teaching mother, Gareth was seduced by bleeps and buzzes at a tender age and has been practising his dark art ever since. An early adopter of the Lemur, Gareth uses Jazzmutant’s groundbreaking touchscreen controller alongside Ableton Live as as a powerful performance and compositional tool. Being able to “touch” and physically manipulate sounds intuitively allows him to deliver a precisely crafted set. In the studio it lets him capture the human error and groove which is missing from a lot of clinically sequenced electronic music.

This workshop will demonstrate the following aspects of the Lemur/Live partnership while showcasing a number of
features from Lemur’s new V2 firmware update:

  • Performing a powerful hybrid live/DJ set with the Lemur/Live combination
  • Using the Lemur with Live as a powerful sound-design tool
  • Natural and musical sequencing with Lemur and Live

Richard Devine Lemur Masterclass: Saturday, March 28, 3 p.m. (Oval Ballroom)

Richard Devine

As an artist his productions are frequently intricate, heavily processed and intense, being held in the highest regard by journalists, music fans and seminal artists such as Autechre and Aphex Twin alike. He has released 4 full-length albums on Schematic, Warp, Asphodel, and Sublight records and has performed his own ear-tearing music mayhem worldwide.

He has done film score work for Touchstone Pictures, sound mangling for Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails, designed countless commercials and done sound design for companies from uber-cool audio companies like Native Instruments, Ableton and Access to car firms such as Audi and BMW!

Being the kind of guy who loves to use (and abuse) any new technology he can get his hands on, he took to the Jazzmutant Lemur like a (rather twisted) duck to water.

In his workshop he will demonstrate how he has been using the Lemur for all of the above! He will discuss how he’s taken advantage of Jazzmutant multitouch technology in multiple situations:

  • DJing
  • Playing live
  • Working in the studio
  • Producing sound design

The workshop will feature use of the Lemur in a variety of applications, including Ableton Live, Native Instruments
Reaktor and Traktor, Cycling 74’s Max/MSP and more.

Stephan Bodzin JazzMutant Lemur Showcase: Sunday, March 29, 1 p.m.

Stephan Bodzin

See Stephan ripping up the Beatport Pool party with a Lemur on Sunday, March 29 at 1 p.m. at Remix Hotel Miami!

Stephan Bodzin has become a household name in the techno scene in recent years, with releases on labels such as Get Physical, Datapunk, Gigolo, Systematic and Giant Wheel, as well as his own Hertzblut imprint.

Stephan grew up in his father’s studio, surrounded by classic synths and electronic machines. His path in life was set from a very early age. After a period performing in bands as a pianist and bassist, 18 year old Stephan was producing music for experimental theatre scores. Of course, it wasn’t long before he was sucked back into electronic music and was called upon by countless artists and DJs to inject his magic production touch. Stephan had countless releases under his belt before the first release under his own name in 2006! The Stephan Bodzin live act was quick to follow…

Since then, Bodzin has wowed crowds worldwide, from underground clubs to huge dance festivals, with his energetic, sonically and visually intense performance. Onstage, the Lemur is his weapon of choice, whether performing a live or a DJ set.

Jazzmutant are proud to present Stephan Bodzin performing a special Lemur showcase DJ set as part of the Beatport Pool Party at 1pm on Sunday. Come and see what the Lemur is capable of when used with software like Native Instruments’ Traktor!

Make plans now to see what the Lemur is capable of!
